instructions

5 flags will cover approx. 90cm of ribbon if you leave a 5cm space between each one.

To cut out the flag shapes, take 1 sheet of orange felt and place it horizontally in front of you. Fold in half from the side and mark the top and bottom centre points. Unfold and measure 15cm from each side of the centre point at the top and mark. Then measure 7.5cm from each side of the centre point at the bottom and mark. With a ruler and the Aqua Trick Marker draw a diagonal line from the centre top mark to each of the bottom two marks. Then, draw a diagonal line from each of the top outside marks to the same points at the bottom. There should now be three triangular shapes on your sheet of felt, cut these out.

To complete a flag, use either the black or white felt and using the template cut out which shape you require ( there are templates for a ghost, bat or cat). Place the chosen shape onto the flag and sew into position using Running stitch and 1 strand of Anchor stranded cotton in same colour as felt. For ghost or bat using 2 strands of Anchor stranded cotton in opposite colour make 2 French knots for the eyes.

Placing a flag over the ribbon matching the top edges, sew into place either by hand or machine stitching, leaving a 5cm gap between each flag. To decorate the top edge of the flag, place a sequin over stitched line of the flag and secure it into position by sewing a bead over the top of the sequin. To do this, bring the thread through the centre hole of the sequin, thread bead onto needle and take the thread back through the centre hole to the back of your work. Repeat this until the top edge of flag has been covered. Fasten off securely.
