Coats Crafts UK Launch The "Learn To" Series
Two brand new titles designed to be “the expert at your elbow” have been launched by Coats Crafts UK, giving everyone the chance to enjoy the increasingly popular crafts of knitting and crocheting.
Knitting is enjoying a huge revival, with stars such as Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones and Geri Halliwell all being spotted toting needles and wool.
Crochet is fast catching up; models backstage at the top shows have been seen turning their hand to the art. In the past two months, top fashion magazines such as Vogue and Marie Claire have both featured extensive use of crochet in both fashion items and home wares.
Coats Crafts UK, which has long been at the forefront of high quality craft publications, has launched Learn to Knit and Learn to Crochet because although many people want to learn how to do both of the crafts – they don’t always have anyone to teach them.
Crafts Director at Coats, Stephen Sheard, said:
“Previously knitting or crochet were crafts passed down from generation to generation, but that is not happening as much now.
We wanted these books to be easy to follow, and to act as an expert at your elbow. These books set the standard for clear, easy-to-use, step-by-step course books.”
Learn to Knit is edited by Sue Whiting, and features photography by John Heseltine. It offers both a step-by-step course in knitting basics, from learning to cast-on to knitting with four needles.
It also provides useful hints and tips for professional results and 20 classic knitting designs in wool and cotton for children, women and men. The book also features projects for the home.
The Learn to Crochet book is ideal for newcomers to the versatile craft. It too offers a complete step-by-step guide to crochet basics and contains 20 attractive projects to try out new found skills.
Projects in Learn to Crochet range from the simplest pot holder to a delicate lacy cushion. Designs also include bags and purses, table mats, cushions, pillow and cushion edgings and small and large blankets.
Crochet is one of the easiest needlecraft skills to learn and is also highly versatile. It can create wonderful textiles in yarns ranging from fine crochet cotton to thick wools. It is ideal for all kinds of projects for the home.
Learn to Crochet is edited by highly respected needlecraft editor and designer Sally Harding, a former editor on Knitting Vogue in America. Photography again is by John Heseltine.
Both books will retail at £6.99rrp each.
