Back
With 3¾ mm needles and A, cast on 81 (87, 91, 97, 101, 107) sts.
1st row (right side) – *K1, P1; repeat from * to last st, K1.
This row forms m-st pattern.
Work 5 more rows in m-st.
Change to 4½ mm needles.
Work 10 more rows in m-st.
17th to 32nd rows – With B and beginning with a knit row, work 16 rows in st-st.
33rd to 48th rows– With C and beginning with a knit row, work 16 rows in st-st.
49th to 52nd rows – With D, knit 4 rows.
53rd row – With A, knit.
54th to 68th rows – With A, work 15 rows in m-st.
The 17th to 68th rows form the pattern.
Continue in pattern until work measures 35 cm, ending with a wrong-side row.
Shape Armholes
Cast off 6 (6, 7, 7, 8, 8) sts at beginning of next 2 rows – 69 (75, 77, 83, 85, 91) sts.
Decrease 1 st at each end of next 4 rows, then on every following alternate row until 53 (59, 61, 67, 69, 75) sts remain.
Continue in pattern until armholes measure 20 (20, 22, 22, 24, 24) cm from beginning of shaping, ending with a wrong-side row.
Shape Neck
Next row – Pattern 19 (22, 22, 25, 25, 28) sts, turn and leave remaining 34 (37, 39, 42, 44, 47) sts on a spare needle.
Cast off 6 sts at neck edge on next and following alternate row – 7 (10, 10, 13, 13, 16) sts.
Work 2 rows.
Cast off.
With right side facing, slip centre 15 (15, 17, 17, 19, 19) sts onto a stitch holder, rejoin yarn at neck edge and pattern to end – 19 (22, 22, 25, 25, 28) sts.
Work 1 row.
Complete to match 1st side, reversing shaping.

Front
Work as for back until front measures 14 rows less than back to shoulder, ending with a wrong-side row.
Shape Neck
Next row – Pattern 18 (21, 21, 24, 24, 27) sts, turn and leave remaining 35 (38, 40, 43, 45, 48) sts on a spare needle.
Decrease 1 st at neck edge on next 11 rows – 7 (10, 10, 13, 13, 16) sts.
Work 2 rows.
Cast off.
With right side facing, slip centre 17 (17, 19, 19, 21, 21) sts onto a stitch holder, rejoin yarn at neck edge and pattern to end. 
Complete to match 1st side, reversing shaping.

Sleeves (Both Alike)
With 3¾ mm needles and A, cast on 51 (51, 57, 57, 61, 61) sts and work 6 rows in m-st as for back.
Change to 4.50 mm needles.
Continue in pattern as follows, at the same time increasing 1 st at each end of next and every following 11th (11th, 10th, 10th, 8th, 8th) row until there are 69 (69, 77, 77, 85, 85) sts. 
7th to 12th rows – With B and beginning with a knit row, work 6 rows in st-st.
13th to 18th rows – With C and beginning with a knit row, work 6 rows in st-st.
19th to 22nd rows – With D, knit 4 rows.
23rd row – With A, knit.
24th to 28th rows – With A,  work 5 rows in m-st.
The 7th to 28th rows form pattern. 
Continue straight until sleeve measures 45 cm, ending with a wrong-side row.
Shape Top
Cast off 6 (6, 7, 7, 8, 8) sts at beginning of the next 2 rows – 57 (57, 63, 63, 69, 69) sts.
Work 2 rows.
Decrease 1 st at each end of next and following 4th row, on every following alternate row until 41 (41, 45, 45, 49, 49) sts remain, then on every row until 27 (27, 31, 31, 35, 35) sts remain. 
Cast off 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4) sts at beginning of the next 4 rows – 15 (15, 19, 19, 19, 19) sts.
Cast off.

Neckband
Join left shoulder seam.
With 3¾ mm needles and right side facing, pick up and K10 sts down right back neck, K15 (15, 17, 17, 19, 19) back neck sts, pick up and K10 sts up left back neck, 9 sts down left front neck, K17 (17, 19, 19, 21, 21) front neck sts, pick up and K9 sts up right front neck –  70 (70, 74, 74, 78, 78) sts.
Knit 3 rows.
Cast off.

to make up

 
Join right shoulder seamand neckband.

Sew in sleeves, then join side and sleeve seams.

Do not press.
