tension

13 stitches and 18 rows to 10 cm using 7 mm needles.

Caution
It is essential to work to the stated tension, and we cannot accept liability for the finished product if any yarn other than the specified yarn is used.  The knitted fabric produced is very stretchy, therefore take care not to pull fabric when measuring.

note

Instructions are given for the first size with larger sizes given in square brackets [ ].  Before starting to knit, read the instructions carefully and circle all figures relating to your size with a coloured pencil.

Patons Lulu is made from a chain construction and can unravel.  Ensure you leave longer ends than normal when making your garment and sew in all ends securely using a sewing thread in a toning shade. When making up this garment, you may prefer to use a smooth yarn in a toning shade.

make-up

Do not press. Block out the rectangular piece and cover with a damp cloth.  After 30 minutes, remove cloth and leave to dry flat away from direct sunlight.

Top Border

With RS facing and 6 mm needles, evenly knit up 77 [79, 81, 85] sts along one long side edge. Work in garter st for 5 rows. Cast off loosely.

Lower Border

Work to match Top Border, working along opposite long side edge.

With RS together and referring to diagram, fold Shrug in half lengthways, matching edges of Top Border to Lower Border. Sew up side seams from lower edge Borders up cast-on/off stitches and across Cuff Borders to complete. Top Border fits from underarm to underarm over front of shoulders and around back of neck.  Lower Border fits from underarm to underarm around back.

Do not dry hand-knitted garments in harsh sunlight as fading or yellowing may occur. Take care to support your garment when wet.  Dry flat on a clean towel, nudging carefully into shape whilst damp.
