Coats Crafts UK has commissioned a series of three stunning artworks by young designer Heidi Louise Colwill.

Heidi was asked to design three pieces, for use in exhibitions and advertising, using Anchor Alcazar machine embroidery threads and with a theme inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The sumptuous designs, created using machine embroidery, include beautiful corsages, a hand-crafted fairytale carriage and a stunning portrait piece. All involved hours of dedicated and intricate work.

Titled Mirror Mirror on the Wall, You Shall Go to Tiffany’s and Get the Mean Reds the artworks are all spectacular pieces which are designed to inspire crafters to get creative.

Product manager for Coats Crafts UK, Emma Watson, said: “We hope that our range of products inspires people to greater creativity and aspiration in their craft work.

“Heidi’s pieces are genuine works of art and we hope these pieces will inspire crafters to create their very own masterpieces, perhaps tackling one small part of a piece, or just using the techniques in their very own way, with their own interpretation.

“We’re trying to inspire ideas, creativity and ultimately show people just what they can do with these versatile threads. While they sit on a shelf they are still beautiful, but people may be unsure as to what can be done with them. This shows people just what heights can be reached by using these threads.

“We’re also dedicated to supporting the work of young artists. Heidi was supported in her final year at Cleveland College of Art and Design by Coats Crafts UK and Anchor Threads, and we continue to support her now she is using her skills in a commercial way.”

The pieces will be used in an advertising campaign across consumer and trade craft press and also at upcoming trade and consumer shows.
