The Embroiderers' Guild and Coats Crafts UK are pleased to announce the winner of their New Designers Associate Prize in 2007, selected at New Designers 2007:

Rebecca Shreeve, graduate of BA (Hons) Textile Design (Mixed Media), De Montfort University

Presented by the Embroiderers' Guild and Coats Crafts UK, this prize is intended to encourage the outstanding use of stitch in the composition or construction, manipulation or decoration of work. The work may be in any media and the embroidery may be integrated with other techniques. In the winning work, the embroidery will make a significant and appropriate contribution to the success of the design or meaning of the work.

The prize was presented to Rebecca Shreeve, whose highly individual imagery is brought to life by her skilled use of hand and machine embroidery. Her tactile works will be of great appeal to both adults and children.

In addition to an award of £1,000 from the Embroiderers' Guild and Coats Crafts UK, Rebecca also receives a two month placement worth £1,500 from Coats Crafts UK, a year's Membership of the Embroiderers' Guild, and 12 months membership of www.newdesignersonline.co.uk. Rebecca has also been invited by Creative Exhibitions to exhibit in the Graduate Showcase at the Knitting and Stitching Shows this autumn, so we hope to see her there.
