Mark the centre of the plastic canvas, lengthways and widthways with a line of basting stitches. Chart gives the complete design, centre indicated by outer arrows which should coincide with the basting stitches. Following the chart and key to chart complete the design of Gromit. Fill in the blank squares with the background colour, shade 8688, working two complete rows all around Gromit, as on chart.

When complete, trim the plastic canvas to the solid line on the outside of the stitched area. Using a matching sewing thread attach badge to bag by working a line of backstitch round the outside edge.

Materials Required

Anchor Tapisserie Wool  1 skein of shade 8034

Cut of a length of wool approx. 70cm in length. Fold the remaining skein in half and using length of wool, wind wool several times around loops appox. 2cm below one folded edge and fasten off securely. Attach wool to top of same end and wrap through loop several times, attach to zip fatener with several stitches, fasten off securely. Cut through the loops at other end of tassel and trim.

Following instructions in pompom maker, make two (using white tools) pompoms in shade 8034 and one (using purple tools) pompom in shade 8688. Using lengths of wool attach to zip fastener and fasten off securely.
