instructions

Note
When working with Anchor Stranded Multicolor, work each cross stitch individually, so the whole stitch is the same colour, before moving onto the next one.

With one short edge of the yellow fleece facing, place the waste canvas centrally, 5 cm up from the short edge and tack in place.

Mark the centre of the waste canvas lengthwise and widthwise with a line of basting stitches.

The diagram gives the complete design, centre indicated by arrows, which should coincide with the basting stitches.

Each background square on the diagram represents one intersection of (double) waste canvas threads or one cross stitch or back stitch.

The design is worked throughout in cross stitch, back stitch and star stitch.

Commence the embroidery centrally, following diagram, key to diagram and stitch diagrams.

On completion of the embroidery, remove the tacking and basting stitches from the waste canvas and trim the waste canvas quite close to the embroidery.

Using a pair of tweezers, carefully remove each length of waste canvas and then press lightly on the wrong side, taking care not to spoil the design.

make up the blanket

Working on a large table or on the floor! place the embroidered edge of the yellow fleece just over the short edge of the pink fleece [flat seam] by approx. 0.5cm and tack firmly through both thickness.

With right side of fleece facing, place the rainbow bias binding over the seam and stitch in position along both edges.

Taking the other two short edges of the fleece (one pink and one yellow), lie the fleece together so that the ‘blanket’ is double thickness and the embroidery is positioned at the top of the blanket and the rainbow bias binding is approx. 24 cm from the top fold.

Tack together the three raw edges of the fleece. Fold the satin ribbon in half and bind all the edges of the double blanket with it, mitring the corners.
