Shear Brilliance

No dressmaker should be without a sturdy pair of pinking shears in their sewing kit!

Pinking shears are a type of scissor with saw-toothed blades instead of straight blades, which leave a zigzag pattern in fabric. They are great for cutting fabric as edges that are cut straight with ordinary scissors will easily fray. The zigzag pattern does not prevent fraying but will limit the length of frayed thread and thus minimizes damage. Pinking shears can also be used for decorative cutting.

Prym's Professional Pinking Shears are definitely a must-have piece of equipment. They have excellent cutting properties and have the added bonus of being nice and light, so your hand will not tire as quickly as with other shears. The plastic handles are specially designed to be comfortable when used for lengthy periods. They are selected by many keen sewers for their smooth, clean surface and durability. The screw joint of the scissors is adjustable with a special key and unlike competitors’ shears; this will not become loose over time. (In fact Prym uses a screw connection featuring an intricately produced trapezoidal thread - an application from the field of light engineering!) The shears are so durable that they can even be put into a dishwasher for cleaning.
