There’s never been a better time to take up crochet. If you’re new to the craft, or already a keen crocheter, we’ve news for you… the much neglected granny square is back to stay…
No longer consigned to doggy baskets, the humble granny square has been reinvented with colour, imagination and unrivalled style points.
The crochet granny square was sneaking into view last autumn when Cate Blanchett was spotted wearing a dress made entirely of squares. While the jury may still be out on Cate Blanchett's dress, at the last London Fashion Week, some of the UK’s top designers were pushing crochet as the new cool. Crochet was trending in the collections for Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Kane, Paul Smith and House of Holland.
Since then, crochet has seen a surge in popularity even outside the crafting community. Of course, we’ve known it all along… you can see some of Rowan’s latest innovative and stylish crochet designs here, and there’s a heavenly choice in Rowan Purelife Home (featured), as well as Rowan Magazines 47, 49 and our latest 50th edition. And, just on sale, there’s a range of accessories, garments and home décor items in Farmhouse by Amy Butler and Erika Knight.
