1. Cut a piece of fabric 30cm by 30cm, cut a piece of fabric 25cm by 6 cm, cut a pieces of elastic 15cm long.
2. Fold smallest piece of fabric in half so that the right sides are inside and machine stitch along the length. Turn the fabric inside out so that the right sides are now outside and seams are hidden.
3. Slide the length of elastic into the fabric pouch and ruche up slightly.
4. To neaten the main fabric of the headscarf, fold and hem on both sides of the length and machine stitch neatly.
5. To attach the main head scarf to the elastic push each end of the main fabric into either end of the ruched fabric and elastic. Pin in place neatly and machine stitch in place making sure to catch the edges of the elastic into the seam.
6. To add decoration to the headscarf cut out three green velvet leaf shapes, three pink silk leaf shapes and three patterned silk/satin leaf shapes.
7. Add some sparkle to the leaves by cutting sections of the rhinestone transfer, placing onto the leaf and ironing in place. Follow manufacturer’s guidelines for the iron –on transfers.
8. Now the extra leaf decoration is ready, attach three leaves to each of the three flower motifs as desired.
9. Stitch the flowers onto the headscarf starting with the first one nearest the elastic( so it will sit quite near to your ear when wearing the headscarf) and move inwards towards the centre. |
