Sarah studied at Middlesex Poly and the Royal College of Art in the 1970s, before moving on to create her own label of designs. And in 1987 her designs, called New Classics, won her a British Design Council Award.
While her original studies came under the label of woven textiles, Sarah was always attracted to the spontaneity of hand knitted designs.
She now works as a senior tutor in fashion and textiles at the Royal College of Art. And, since the early 1990s, Sarah has worked as a consultant designer for Rowan where her work regularly features in the Rowan magazine. Her focus on fashion and knitwear has played a big part in knitwear’s enduring popularity.
Sarah has written and collaborated on several books, including Vintage Knits (a collection inspired by original vintage patterns), Sarah Dallas Knitting, as well as Scottish Highland Knits and Scottish Inspirations which feature chunkier designs.
