In keeping with our charity theme this month we’re bringing you news of a non-profit organisation called AngelBear. We hope you can help...
AngelBear was founded only a few months ago by mum of five, Melanie Smith. Melanie used to work as a nurse and knows from first-hand experience that there are children out there who do not own a teddy or a soft toy. With this knowledge and knowing that toys are essential for children’s development, Melanie decided she wanted to help in some way.
Already news of AngelBear is spreading and Melanie has been receiving requests for toys from women’s refuges, hospices and the charity The Children’s Trust. So, she needs people to give a little time and knit her free pattern so she has enough bears to keep up with requests.
Melanie has designed a simple pattern that is easy to knit in any double knitting yarn. The toy features several different textures which babies and young children love.
Visit AngelBear for your free pattern and for further information on where to send you finished bears. Hopefully one day soon your bear will become a much loved comfort to a small child.
