Due to popular demand, here’s the free knitting pattern for the bag featured in our summer banner at the top of the page. This roomy bag is perfect for taking out and about. In keeping with our summer floral theme, our free Rowan knitting pattern features two pretty roses, one small and one large, to decorate the front of the knitted bag.

The knitted bag has plenty of detail to make it interesting to make – moss stitch, cable detailing around the flap and sides, plus the two floral corsages. We’ve made ours in Rowan Silk Wool DK which comes in a range of naturally inspired colours, but you could equally substitute another Rowan yarn in a double knit weight. Try Amy Butler’s Belle Organic DK, which has lots of bright summer colours to choose from; or for winter you could try knitting it in Rowan Felted Tweed DK for a more rustic look.

If you just wanted a smaller project, why not try knitting the corsage in a cotton yarn such as Rowan Pima Cotton or Patons 100% Cotton DK for a quick knitting fix to brighten up a summer t-shirt!
