6 x 50g ball of Patons Diploma Gold DK in Cyclamen (06123).

No.000 (10 mm) Prym knitting needles

Cable needle.

INC : increase (by working twice in same st)

measurements

 

The scarf will measure 15cm/6 in across and 175cm/69 in long, excluding fringes.


tension

 
12 stitch cable measures 9cm across and 14 rows measures 10cm in length, using three strands of yarn togther and No. 000 (10 mm) needles.

Instructions in square brackets are worked as stated after second bracket.


to make up
 

With No.000 (10 mm) needles and using 3 strands of yarn together, cast on 16 sts K 5 rows.

Inc row: K4, p2, inc pwise in each of next 4 sts, p2, k4 - 20 sts.

Work in pattern thus:

1st row:
K

2nd row:
K4, p12, k4.

3rd to 8th rows: Repeat 1st and 2nd rows, 3 times.

9th row: K4, slip next 6 sts on to cable needle and leave at back, k6, then k6 from cable needle, k4.

10th row: As 2nd row.

11th to 20th rows: Repeat 1st and 2nd rows, 5 times.

These 20 rows form pattern. Repeat these 20 rows, 10 times more, then work 1st to 18th rows again.

Decrease row: K6, [k2tog] 4 times, k6 - 16 sts. K3 rows cast off.

Cut remaining yarn into short strands. Using 4 strands at a time, make and attach 9 tassels along each end for fringe. Trim fringe.
