All White?

White yarn creations spun into lightweight sweaters and dresses and were featured as crochet frill trims in many designers’ collections this season.

Light (and white) as-a-feather sweaters at Antonio Berardi had cowl necklines and sleeves finished off with an under-layer of crochet. Barely there loose and layered tanks were worn by tanned models at the Ann Demeulemeester show. And the over-sized tunic tops at Chloe, with white knitted crochet and pom-pom details offer an alternative idea for those who would like a less adventurous knitting project.

For a more structured look there was sixties inspirered knitted shift dresses at Anne Sophie Black. And Calvin Klein’s simple lines (which he is best at and well known for) didn’t disappoint in the form of boyish tank tops and dresses with a touch of sparkle woven through.

Chanel’s combination of white knitted fluidity with structure was the crème de la crème. Pretty crochet capes were worn over fitted dresses on models that floated up and down the catwalk like swans.

Forget the number one white rule of impracticability and create a knit of utter wearability this season.
