Felicity Miller was born Felicity Spencer in Hong Kong, moving to Cheltenham in the UK when she was 18 months old. She studied French and Art History at Bristol University, spending a year in a garret in Paris designing tapestries and theatre posters (apart from teaching English!).
In 1987 Felicity went to New York as apprentice to Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs, the table and kitchenware designers. She worked in all areas of production including ceramics, glass and home furnishings, painted the original art for the MacLachlan collection and oversaw the decoration of the original Madison Avenue flagship store.
After a period of successful freelance work as a linen and stationery designer and colour and design consultant, she formed ‘Felicity’ with friend Jeanne Young.
The friends took her elegantly whimsical designs to the Surtex licensing show in 2005, where they won licences with Westminster Fibers and Caspari.
Fabrics and paper goods carrying her work were launched the following year across the US and Europe.
She signed licences with Woodkins Dolls and Traditions by Pamela Kline in 2007. Traditions towels launched that year and pyjama and sheet sets followed in 2008, with patterns ranging from chic fairies, elegant cupcakes and ballet shoes to vintage trucks and cowgirl boots. The dolls also made their debut in 2008.
In 1991 Felicity married Glenn Miller, a designer/builder. They live in a farmhouse in King Ferry, New York, with their two daughters Elian and Lowry and a variety of pets. Felicity says her family, friends and the changing colours and patterns of the Finger Lakes are daily inspirations for her creations.
