Pauline Burbidge Open Studio 2011

One of the UK’s most prominent and respected quilters, Pauline Burbidge, is opening her studio up to the public again this summer.

For four days from Friday 29th July  to Monday 1st August, Pauline Burbidge and her husband, sculptor Charlie Poulsen, will be hosting their 18th Annual Open Studio. From 11am till 6pm, you’ll be able to view Pauline’s latest textile work, which includes a whole new collection of ‘Stitch Drawings’. These are drawn and stitched images inspired by plant life in Puglia, Italy, one of Pauline’s favourite destinations. You’ll also be able to view the new ‘Studio Quilts’ in progress. These huge quilts are due to be finished in time for an exhibition next year, which will start at The Festival of Quilts and then tour during 2012-2013.

In addition to Pauline’s textile art, you will be able to view some of Charles Poulsen’s work too, including his growing sculpture in the Allanbank garden. This year’s guest artist is architect Jacquie Milham. She will be showing work connected with her practice Architectonic Design.

Pauline Burbidge’s Studio is based at Allanbank Mill Steading, Allanton, Near Duns in the Scottish Borders. For further information on getting there and much more besides, please visit Pauline’s website.
