Budding fashion designer Bex Farr has produced her latest collection from recycled materials with support from Coats Crafts and help from another inspiring designer Billy Foskett.
Coats Crafts first came across Bex and Billy at the Customisation Station at the Sewing for Pleasure exhibition earlier this year, where we joined forces with Inkberrow Design Centre to show just what you can do to revamp and revitalise clothes you have fallen out of love with.
Many Coats Crafts products were used at the Customisation Station and those that were left over were used by Bex for her ‘Coats Collection’ of recycled fashion garments. Bex’ creativity led her to transform a duvet cover into a luxurious evening dress and an old sleeping bag into trendy camping wear with the addition of Prym zips and braces from Coats Crafts. Both very cosy and practical for festival season and even winter parties!
Bex’ new collection paves the way for her new business enterprise ‘Back of the Wardrobe’. Bex is an advocate for trendy recycling. She says, “I love the fact that you can make new garments out of old ones. It’s great to see people’s faces when you tell them you’re wearing a dress made from an old shirt or granny skirt. Why spend a fortune on generic high street outfits when you can restyle clothes that have been lost in the back of your wardrobe for literally next to nothing in comparison?”
We wish Bex, Billy and all the recent design graduates from Inkberrow College every success in their future careers.
