Home crafts on the rise

A new Channel 4 series Kirstie’s Homemade Home has been encouraging the home designer who wants to fill her home with unique and handcrafted items that shout style and originality.

The show was presented by Kirstie Allsopp who is using crafts and DIY to transform a wreck of a cottage into a desirable and covetable home. The first episode pulled in 2.7million viewers.

Features have included a peep into Kaffe Fassett’s home, and a glimpse into the work of Suzie Johnson. Suzie, who used to work for Rowan, was responsible for knitting all the signs you’ll see at the start of the show and between ad breaks.

This is going to spark a new fashion for homecraft styling, so make sure you’re first with the new trends and check out these fab home décor kits from Coats Crafts.

Try the shabby chic needlepoint cushions from the Anchor Living range. Or look to embroidery for beautiful feminine style – there are pre-printed linens in the Fleur de Lis range. We love the fresh strawberry design which could be used as table linen or cut up to make pictures of cushions. Or if you’re more traditional, an Anchor cross stitch home sampler would be a great place to start.

Look out for the new Anchor Home tableware range in stores soon.
