The Needlewoman

Stitch this beautiful costume lady and you are reproducing a piece of magazine history. This picture originally featured on the cover of one of the first ever stitching magazines called The Needlewoman.

This design featured as an illustration on the cover of that magazine back in 1926. The magazine, which was published by Coats Crafts, survived under various titles until the 1980s, so there is a chance that some of you have even read that magazine over the years.

Our wonderful free chart features a fashionable lady of the time wearing a beautiful printed dress in an art deco inspired setting. Her hairstyle and garment are authentic and detailed. On one of our news pages we’ve included an image of the design in an ultra-modern setting, just to show how these vintage styles can look as amazing today as they would have in the homes of the time.

If you love this design you’ll be pleased to hear that Cross Stitch Collection is featuring the companion piece to this design (‘Windswept’) in its April 2011 issue, on sale in all good newsagents on 16th March. Make a note in your diaries.
